Thanks to the high speed synchronisation (HSS) the flash can be used - depended on the type of camera - with shutter speeds even shorter than the camera synchronisation speed. This is important in order to fill in the shadowy portions of a portrait and to make the person stand out from an out of focus background. - Cobra-Design: reduces the red eye effect
