Fast Rendering: To eliminate the bottlenecks inherent in more loosely integrated systems, EditDV completely integrates DV support from the Firewire hardware to SoftDV, the software Codec, to the editing and special effects application.
DraftDV: You can trade off quality for faster rendering to better match your current workflow requirements. DraftDV mode computes draft-quality movies up to six times faster than at full quality. If desired, the draft movies that are generated can be output to tape over the DV IEEE1394 interface and distributed for client review and approval before final finishing at full resolution.
Non-Square Pixel Rendering: EditDV includes high-quality sub-pixel rendering for "correct pixel aspect ratio" projects so your text and transitions do not appear distorted on the video screen.
Batch Capture with Timecode: Log clips as you review your footage, capturing only the video you need. You can also regenerate the batch log, effectively trimming the clip timecode and removing the excess media from the hard drive. Edit decision lists (EDLs) can also be exported to a switcher (CMX, Sony).
4:3 & 16:9 NTSC or PAL: Works worldwide with whatever footage you've shot in its native format. EditDV maintains the correct aspect ratio whether you're creating a wide screen (16x9) or normal (4x3) DV movie in NTSC or PAL format
Flexible "3-Point Edit" Editing: EditDV 2.0.provides powerful professional-style 3-point and 4-point editing. Drag clips into the order you like then press play. Fine tune your production with film-style side by side tail/head trimming for easy, professional, efficient results. Also offers improved editing from the timeline and more tools for directly manipulating clips from the timeline. Clip linking, multiple selection for dragging, and roll and ripple editing from the sequencer are all designed to make you more productive.
Professional Character Generation (Titler): Endless creativity with unlimited title layers including ATM, and TrueType fonts with keyframe control of drop shadows, gradients, softness, transparency and colored backgrounds. Easy interface for long scrolling titles. Alpha mode is included for picture-in-title effects. Titles are animated directly on the video in real-time using keyframed spline, linear or hold motion.
Chroma and Luma Keying: You can create clean mattes for unlimited layering of video without leaving your editing environment. Chroma and Luma Keying offer softness, transparency and tolerance sliders for accurate keying performance. EditDV 2.0 provides a Color Replace filter for professional matte cleanup capability.
PiP (Picture In Picture): Create a PiP effect on your video, move around the PiP with unlimited keyframed motion, and create borders and drop shadows. You can also crop your video using PiP to get a close-up view, or zoom in on your video. With PiP you can create a split video effect or show multiple videos at once.
PZR - True 3D DVE's: You can manipulate your video in 3D with true perspective and support for soft, translucent, colored drop shadows, anti-aliasing, automatic border generation and sub-pixel interpolation, providing exciting broadcast visual effects.
Unlimited Layers: You can layer as many video tracks and filter tracks as you need to achieve the intense, state of the art, graphically complex look of broadcast television. Any still image format that is supported by QuickTime can be imported and treated as an ordinary video layer.

Audio Rubber-Band Level Control: You can directly manipulate the audio track volume to integrate diverse audio tracks and easily mix the audio allowing for smooth transitions of audio volume and precise control of the audio tracks. Also provides real-time adjustment of clip and track volume making audio decisions quick and easy.
Audio Channel Mapping Filter: This filter allows you to "route" the left or right channels of a stereo track to the left or right channels of the AP track. This filter can perform a variety of useful functions, such as Sum to Mono, Pan Right/Left, Fill Right/Left, and Channel Swap. This filter is keyframable, like all EditDV filters. For example, you could have a clip that begins at a low volume, summed to mono, and at a certain event, the sound track swells to a full stereo sound. Or, you could animate the pan of a stock sound effect such as footsteps to match the video image.
Audio only Capture: EditDV 2.0 allows you to capture audio only from your DV tape. This takes up less disk space and provides the flexibility to capture only what you need. You can also capture the audio from your DV tape in stereo or two separate tracks in mono.
Media CleanerEZ: Bundled with Media CleanerEZ you can access QT Export for saving movies directly to popular web formats including QuickTime, Sorenson, AVI, Cinepak and others. This means that movies can be directly exported from the timeline to a compressed format and readied for the web with no additional steps.
Digital Origin PhotoDV: EditDV includes Digital Origin PhotoDV, the award-winning utility that enables you to quickly and easily capture gorgeous still images. The frames you capture with PhotoDV are ideal for your web pages, either as stand alone pictures or as source images for 360-degree panoramas, 3D objects, and animated gifs.
