While we do purchase most of the products we sell direct from the manufacturer of such products, many deny us official authorized status due to the fact that we do not adhere to their Minimum Advertised Pricing (MAP) policies. MAP policies are a method manufacturers may use to ensure that retailers sell their products at a certain minimum price. Our philosophy has always been to sell products at the LOWEST possible price, even when these prices are below a manufacturer’s MAP policy guidelines. Accordingly, there are instances where we do not adhere to MAP policy guidelines and are denied “authorized reseller” status or, even in some cases, are prohibited from buying direct from the manufacturer of a line of products even though our volume and service would otherwise warrant being supported by these manufacturers. In those instances, we purchase our products from distributors and other retailers of new products that resell to us.
Manufacturers prefer that you buy products directly from them or an authorized reseller because manufacturers may make a higher profit on those sales due to an increased sales margin. Generally, even if you do not purchase your product directly from a manufacturer, a manufacturer is likely to offer you warranty protection for the product purchased, even though you saved up to 50% off of what you would have paid by purchasing directly through a manufacturer or an “authorized reseller”. There are a handful of manufacturers, however, who do NOT offer manufacturer warranties if purchases are not made through “authorized resellers”. These include Alpine, Pioneer, Denon, Yamaha and Acoustic Research. If an item from one of these manufacturers should need service under warranty, call us or email us to receive a Repair Authorization Number. In certain instances, we will permit you to ship the product back to us along with a description of the problem, and we will attempt to either honor or have honored the applicable manufacturers warranty.
